however they were a bitch to break in for me.

I have both! I got my Jadon’s first and I love them, super comfortable now. But if you wanna feel a little cooler on campus all the time, I'd say get the Jadons and just wear some thick socks until you're comfortable in them They're going to look cool either way, in my opinion. You could always change the laces up to match outfits or just to make them stand out more too, if that's your worry. I put chain laces in mine to give them a little edge, so they don't look "bleh" as you've said. I also keep a black 1460 pair that honestly don't get as much love as they used too, but are super good for slipping on to match anything. Except in this case, both of my platforms were bought brand new haha, but they're softer material than the Jadons are. I don't know how long the Jadons take to break in though, but I also buy most of my pairs second hand so they usually come a little worn. I absolutely love them and have no problem wearing them all day long, many days in a row.

So here’s to Doc Martens and midi dresses! Long may they reign.I don't have the Jadons, but I have a pair of Mollys and a pair of the Lazy Oaf buckle boots that are both platform. I love that they add height without the pain or faff of wearing heels! The headband just completes the look to me – it looks very regal somehow. I honestly love this outfit so much, I haven’t had a chance to wear it again but we are off to a gig this weekend so I expect I’ll get dressed up in it again for a bit of a dance and some dinner. I tried them on in the shop and nearly died trying to get them off without drawing attention to myself. I thought I might have to go up a size because I had to do this with my first pair of DM’s. Hopefully my newest pair of Chelsea boots will soften soon because I’m still breaking out in to a sweat trying to get them off. I actually have a collection of videos on my phone of various people removing them for me because it was such a thing. I will say, though, they can be hell to take off! I found this with the Jadon’s too because they have laces and a zip, so I had to get someone to help me remove them at first, but they soon softened. They don’t come up quite as high, and they slip on well, and I find the Chelsea style is easier to work in to my wardrobe because they’re less detailed and feel more wearable somehow. I find they come up higher than other boots I have, and the flatform heel meant I tripped over a curb or two trying to get used to the height, but I just bought a pair of the Flatform 2976 Chelsea Boots and I actually think I love them even more than the Jadon’s. The Jadon boots did take a little while to get used to – the first time I drove while wearing them was quite an experience! Jord told me I needed to get a pair of driving moccasins. They took a bit of effort (and bloodshed) to wear in, although my sister in law recommended these silicone heel protectors which have helped a lot! I love the flatform style of the Jadon’s, and I find they take the edge off midi dresses – sometimes I end up feeling a bit overdressed in some of my dresses and I love the way DM’s just add a little somethin’ somethin’ to a look.

Last winter I bought a pair of Doc Marten Jadon Boots which I’m wearing here. I think this dress* is one of my favourite pieces right now – the sage colour and soft shimmer make it perfect for autumn, and paired with my big, big boots it just makes such an effortless, fun look.

I wore this outfit recently as part of a collaboration with Oasis and I loved it so much I wanted to share it here too (this isn’t part of the paid partnership). I’ve done this for the past few years and they’re still in excellent condition – I didn’t even have to break them in! They’re super comfy, easy to slip on and work with literally every outfit in my wardrobe. I still have my first pair of Doc’s and I have worn them to death over the years! Every autumn I get them out of my shoe cupboard, usually in September when the weather changes, and wear them every single day until around April. I had always loved how they looked on other people, but I was convinced they would look too bulky on me! Eventually, I relented and thus began an obsession with big boots. For years my husband tried to get me to buy a pair of Doc Martens.
